Bloody Leaks!

Wikileaks has published hundreds of thousands of cables written by U.S. diplomatic personnel. These documents reveal how numerous characters of international politics behave and other confidentialities regarding them. As an example, the documents highlight that Libya's ruler, Muamar el Gadaf uses Botox and is a true hypochondriac, adding that he depends much on a Ukrainian nurse who may well be his lover.
The cables also expose the intentions of king Abdala of Saudi Arabia, which allegedly asked for the United States to attack Iran to destroy it nuclear power. The leaks describe the German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle as and arrogant and superficial man, with an awful concept of the United States.
These are just a few of the many classified news that have been revealed by this organization. Furious about the unauthorized disclosure of confidential documents from the State Department, the White House ordered a review of how secret information of various levels of government is guarded.
Summarizing, the publication of cables made by the site has brought humiliation to the U.S government.
As a society should we believe this? or is it just valueless propaganda to humiliate the U.S?

KO-operate!

Does anyone have $6,500 to spare? This is the item I would like to buy today for that amount...

Anita Ko

* I just discovered her collection, and it has some nice pieces. It goes exceptionally well with my "total badass-ness" days! LOL It is pricey because it is usually 18 karat gold and diamonds. Here are some more pieces... Check it out.

Quick glances: Holiday Madness

Yesterday as I sat to have lunch on my break I decided to download a book on my iphone. Ebooks are not my thing, I'm the kind to buy old used books with yellow pages and a dusty smell, but the boredom of eating alone encouraged me to download. I browsed for a few minutes on the helpful app. and finally decided on Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy. I remember attempting to read this book a couple of years ago, but desisting from finishing it. I guess I was too young to really appreciate the literary masterpiece. I read on for minutes, only glancing up occasionally to see the complete madness that the holidays have become. People walking rapidly bumping into each other, some sweating, and others with barely enough arm space to carry more shopping bags. On one of my quick glances I caught an interesting glimpse of a lady nearly dragging  a pretty little girl, maybe 5 or 6 years old with blonde hair and an upset face, forcing her to walk quicker, and I couldn't help but think of what an erroneous idea we've made of the holidays. I mainly blame the market and their manipulative strategies to make society believe that the main point of the holidays is to buy nice things for everyone who is special to you, therefore turning it into a consumerist society. I must admit that I've also fallen into the holiday madness, year after year, where the importance of a gift is forced to be of equal value to the importance of the affection you may feel for someone. I guess its product of the society we live in, we've made it a tradition. I'm sure there are countries where getting together to share a meal is much more important than receiving a gift. For example, in Cuba people don't have the financial possibility to give presents to everyone who might be special to them, should this make them less special? Yeah, I didn't think so either.
Sure it feels great to receive nice things but, I'm very difficult with material gifts, it almost feels like torture to be put on the spot of opening a gift, but than again I understand that it is a way for family to actually show their love and appreciation towards me. I still rather have a nice dinner, or just spend a day doing other things that will become great memories... It is absolutely helpless to tell my family I don't want gifts, and it will also be pointless if they told me not to buy them anything as I refuse to receive and not give. Anyway, for now there is no solution to change how things work, as it is so deeply rooted in North American culture and tradition, but it does serve as food for thought.
What are your thoughts on this?
Enjoy your Monday, and if you're brave enough join the madness!

Holiday Takeoff!

Thanksgiving dinner is among the most important annually, and it marks the takeoff of the holiday season! Usually families get together at one house to celebrate, which can put lots of pressure on the party host. To really impress visitors the most important factor is the decoration of the dinner table. Here are some wonderful Thanksgiving table settings.
I hope you all enjoy this wonderful occasion along with your loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving and take in the Holiday Spirit!

Scan Me Down..

For thousands of air passengers for Thanksgiving Day, Wednesday is the National Day of Denial, a protest that began on the Internet a little over two weeks ago, and could become a nightmare to produce long delays in checkpoints at airports. Its organizers say they want to focus the growing anger against the enhanced security procedures imposed by the Transportation Security Administration Office (TSA), which were instituted after the failed terrorist plot last month to fly cargo planes to the U.S.  The negative campaign is a small-scale rebellion in which passengers refuse to go through the 400 imaging machines that are being used in about 70 airports nationwide and opt to be searched in public, which has been criticized for being too invasive because hands slide down the genitals and breasts. A passenger who refuses to go through the scanner could mean a long day at the airport for many others. Going through a scanner typically takes between 15 and 30 seconds. While a search by a security officer will take 2 to 3 minutes.
Both methods (scanners and search) seem infringing and uncomfortable for any traveller, but due to the current situation with terrorism worldwide I think a measure of security like this one should be adopted by all airports. These scanners are only assuring passenger's safety, and being "touched" by a security officer seems far worst to me. So I say let's keep the lines moving and quit the nonsense!
What are your thoughts on the scanners?

Mi Vida Loca!

Earlier today I was looking for a different background, I ended up changing it for that colosseum-like amphitheater arena you see now. Life has been feelings like a colosseum lately (pressure and expectance). I've been caught up between term papers and preparation for finals, and to top it off I took on a seasonal part time job at an interior design store to reinforce my XMAS spendings haha!
Well I hope I survive and don't get devoured by lions.

Stupefy!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows opens up with an astonishing $310 million globally over the weekend! The movie is now No.1 in North America, with $125.1 million sold here. I saw the movie last night and enjoyed it to the last second. I think all Harry Potter fans are pleased with this "beginning of the end" film. It is packed with action and suspense easily surpassing all expectations. Once again, the Warner Brothers did a spectacular job at bringing J.K. Rowling's phenomenal books to life.

To The Nutcracker..

George Balanchine's The Nutcracker will be at the Miami Adrianne Arsht Center from December 17 to the 23rd. I've been anticipating this since October. I'm planning to take my nine year old brothers to see it, if I can convince them that  it will be "cool" enough that is... It is a Miami City Ballet production and should be a sensational holiday treat!

Currently Crushing Marc..

So,  I'm utterly head over heels over Marc Jacob's genius Spring 2011 collection! It is fresh and colorful! Perfect for  Miami's steamy days and sexy nights out. Check it out!!!
