Yesterday I had quite a discussion with my cousin about her love for chocolate,(which is now more like an addiction). We both agreed on the fact that eating chocolate causes an inexplicable feeling of satisfaction. Magical-like maybe?
Well, I did a quick research and it turns out that historically, Chocolate has been the number one aphrodisiac for humanity. Possessing properties that emulate endorphins and other substances produced by the body, ever since the time of the Aztecs, chocolate has been used for this purpose. For this reason, it is no coincidence that we always link it with pleasure, in every sense.
The reasons for this are not only mythical. There are scientific arguments that support the aphrodisiac properties of chocolate. For example, chocolate causes alertness, relieves fatigue, and helps to release endorphins. In short, it makes people who consume it feel better.
Furthermore, chocolate has pleasure liberating substances such as phenylethylamine (a substance synthesized by the brain in times like when experiencing an orgasm) and anandamide, which causes general well-being, and works to improve levels of dopamine, a substance associated with sexual arousal and pleasure.
In précis, I propose to get chocolate wasted to really experience the talents of chocolate! With the International Chocolate Festival happening in Miami this weekend I'm sure I'll be doing so.
Happy Friday :)
